The Elements

Your sessions will be highly personalized based on what elements you choose to include. Below are several sensory rich activities that you can include. You might not be familiar with them all.

Sand tray

A sand tray is a powerful counseling tool used in sand tray therapy or sandplay therapy to help clients express thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a nonverbal, creative way. It consists of a tray filled with sand and a collection of miniature figurines representing people, animals, objects, and symbols. Clients use these figures to create scenes in the sand, which reflect their inner world.

It's a beautiful, imaginative, and healing approach that taps into the subconscious, making it a gentle yet profound tool for growth. 💛

Here is a list of supplies you will need if you want to make sand tray part of your treatment.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the practice of using natural plant extracts, known as essential oils, to promote emotional and physical well-being. Scents have a powerful connection to the brain, especially the areas that process emotions and memories. When used in counseling, aromatherapy can help create a calming atmosphere, ease anxiety, enhance focus, and support emotional healing.

Comfort food

Comfort food and drink have a special way of soothing the soul. They provide a sense of warmth, familiarity, and safety, which can be very helpful in creating a relaxed, open atmosphere during counseling. When used mindfully, they can enhance emotional processing and help you feel more grounded and present in the moment.

Crystals

Crystals are natural formations that many believe carry calming and grounding energies. In a counseling session, they can be used as gentle tools to support relaxation, mindfulness, and emotional healing.

While not a replacement for therapy, crystals can add a meaningful, intentional touch to the healing process, creating a space of peace and self-reflection. ✨

Emotional Support Animals

In counseling sessions, an Emotional Support Animal can be a powerful source of support.  Petting or holding an animal can lower stress levels, promote relaxation, and even encourage mindfulness. ESAs can also serve as emotional anchors, offering reassurance during difficult conversations and reinforcing feelings of unconditional love and acceptance.

When incorporated into therapy, these animals can help clients build trust, regulate emotions, and feel more grounded—making the healing journey feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more comforting. 🐾
